The Brief
Drive down ink and toner costs throughout our client’s business without compromising the quality of print performance.
With wholesaler price hikes on OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) toner supplies, Longleat needed to avoid mounting print costs. Adopting low-cost compatible or remanufactured toners was not an option, as ultimate print quality was paramount. Futurform were asked to look at how a best-practice Managed Print Solution (MPS) could significantly cut costs.
Our Approach
As part of our quarterly business review with Longleat, it became apparent that a fresh approach to print management was necessary. An assessment was arranged with Longleat employees to review their print practices. We immediately identified areas for improvement - most notably, that a fleet of printers and photocopier machines were arranged centrally without being fully utilised.
Despite this, print supplies were still being supplied to both machines, resulting in high volumes of wastage. It was agreed that we would conduct a full 3-month audit to analyse total print volume, page yields from each machine and unique department requirements.
“We can’t believe the savings we have made and how easy the process was with Futurform!”
The Result
Our dedicated installation team rolled out the new solution. This included the relocation and removal of old devices, during out-of-operational hours. Due to the office layout, we switched the print model from ‘centralised’ to ‘distributed’, putting colleagues closer to the printers they should use.
We implemented monitoring software, letting us analyse usage, monitor toner requirements and flag service alerts remotely. Using Papercut print management software meant our client could reduce paper usage, identify energy savings and enforce a change in printing habits.
As estimated, our MPS solution led to a massive £15,000 savings per annum.
